El Cactus

El Cactus is a functional, well-kept holiday home for up to five people – and its greatest strength is the location: the long sandy beach of Can Picafort is just a few minutes' walk away.

The house has three bedrooms, two of them doubles, and a bathroom with bathtub. The bright living room has air conditioning, a fireplace and satellite TV, and there's Wi-Fi throughout. The Mallorcan-style kitchen is fully equipped.

There is no large garden, but there is a lovely covered terrace for shared meals, a built-in barbecue and sun loungers. If you spend your days on the beach anyway, you won't need more – and you save considerably compared with houses with a pool.

Location & surroundings

Can Picafort lies on the Bay of Alcúdia in the north of Mallorca. Its fine, gently shelving sandy beach is particularly good for families; along the promenade you'll find restaurants, ice-cream parlours and supermarkets – much is within walking distance, so the car can often stay parked.

Along the coast the beach continues as Platja de Muro, one of the island's most beautiful beach landscapes, with the S'Albufera nature park behind it – ideal for cycling and birdwatching. Alcúdia with its medieval old town is about 20 minutes away, Palma airport about 45–50 minutes.
