The construction style usually reveals the region: in the interior and in the Tramuntana, natural stone and wood dominate, while in the southwest clean lines of concrete, glass, and steel prevail. Either can be "the right" villa – it depends on the atmosphere you are looking for.

While modern villas in the southwest mostly feature narrow infinity pools, spacious rectangular pools with Mediterranean tile patterns are more common in the south and east – ideal for families seeking plenty of swimming area and shallow entry.

A good rule of thumb: If you have small children and want beaches, you are better off in the north. If you love design villas and sunsets over the sea, you belong in the southwest. And if you are looking for peace and quiet, the east or inland is the right place for you.
